What can the file manager actually do?

Create folders, rename, move, multi-select, compress and delete — plus open PDFs, Office documents and photos in place, and pull the audio out of a video. Favorites, playlists and recently played sit on top, and they survive renaming or moving the underlying file.

Question 2

Where are my files stored, and can I see them in the Files app?

Accepted Answer

Everything you add lives in FoxDL’s own Documents folder, which appears in the Files app on iPhone and iPad and in Finder on the Mac. You can move files out at any time. Thumbnails and working data sit in cache folders instead, so they never clutter what you see.

Can FoxDL zip and unzip files?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Select one or more files and compress them into a ZIP from the file menu, and open archives you receive to extract their contents into your library. Both work on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and the archive stays a normal file you can share on.

How do I extract the audio from a video?

Accepted Answer

Open the file menu on a video and choose to convert it to audio. FoxDL pulls the audio stream out into its own file — useful for lectures, podcasts and music videos you would rather listen to. Free use is metered: 2 passes on iPhone and iPad, 1 a day on the Mac.

Can I play from an external drive or another app’s folder?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Bookmark a folder on a connected drive, an SD card or another app’s storage, and FoxDL browses and plays from it in place — no copying, no doubling your storage. The bookmark survives restarts, so the folder is there next time the drive is.

Question 6

Can I control what goes into my iCloud backup?

Accepted Answer

Yes, folder by folder. Each top-level folder in your library can be included in or excluded from the device backup, so a large video folder does not consume the iCloud quota you would rather keep for photos. The rules are re-applied after every library scan.
