Which video and audio formats does FoxDL play?
FoxDL plays MKV, MP4, M4V, MOV, AVI, WebM, FLV and WMV video, MP3, M4A, AAC, FLAC, WAV, OGG, Opus and WMA audio, and HLS (m3u8) streams. Files play directly — there is no conversion step and no separate codec to install.

The player is built on a full decoding stack rather than a wrapper around the system player, which is what makes the list long. The practical rule: if a desktop player opens it, FoxDL very probably opens it too.
| Kind | Formats |
|---|---|
| Video containers | MKV, MP4, M4V, MOV, AVI, WebM, FLV, WMV |
| Audio & music | MP3, M4A, AAC, FLAC, WAV, OGG, Opus, WMA |
| Streaming | HLS (m3u8), progressive HTTP, and the stream types IPTV providers hand out |
| Documents opened in place | PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, plain text, images |
Inside those containers the usual codecs are covered — H.264, HEVC, AV1, VP9, MPEG-4, plus AAC, AC-3, E-AC-3, DTS, MP3, Vorbis and Opus audio. High-bitrate 4K on an older device is the one place where a file can stutter: the limit there is the hardware, not the container.
Playback speed, a sleep timer, AirPlay to a receiver, Picture in Picture and background listening work the same across all of them — a two-hour film and a FLAC album go through the same player.
